WhataJig WhataJig

Every tool, gauge and machine. Accounted for.

WhataJig shows who has each tool, which job it was used on, and what is coming due for calibration or service. For machine shops, from one tool crib to every department.

Works on a computer, on a tablet at the crib window, and on a phone on the shop floor.

How it works

Add your tools

Import your list from a spreadsheet or add tools one at a time. Print a barcode label for each tool and a QR label for each machine.

Check out at the Counter

Scan a badge, scan the tools, add the job number. Returns take the same few seconds.

Stay ahead of due dates

Calibration and service dates are tracked for every unit. An overdue tool can't go out, and the right people get an email.

See what each job used

Every check-out, machine hour and consumable is tied to its job, so you can see what a job really took.

What you get

One place for the tool crib, the gauges and the machines, set up the way your shop already works.

The Counter

Badge, tools, job, done. Built for a busy crib window, with camera scanning on phones and tablets.

Calibration you can prove

Due dates and history for every gauge in one tracker. Overdue tools are locked out until they are back from calibration.

Cabinets without check-out

Quality and Receiving can keep walk-up cabinets. Their tools are never checked out; only calibration is managed, with printable "Do not use" tags.

Machine maintenance

Plans by hours or by calendar. Operators scan a machine's label to log hours, run a pre-use check or report a problem.

Consumables

Drill bits, welding rods and fasteners by quantity, issued to a person and a job, with stock counts and low-stock warnings.

Levels and certifications

Only qualified people take restricted tools or run restricted machines. Every exception is recorded with a reason.

Job summary

Tool hours, machine hours, the people involved and consumable cost for each job, with a comparison to earlier runs of the same part.

Alerts that reach the right person

Daily emails for what is due, sent by role or by person. Anyone can turn an alert off in one click, unless an Admin has locked it.

Your ERP, connected

Pick open Epicor jobs at check-out, and write tool, machine and consumable use back to the job.

Questions

Does every tool have to be checked out?

No. Departments such as Quality and Receiving can keep walk-up cabinets. People take a tool and put it back; WhataJig only tracks when it is due for calibration or service, and tells the person who looks after it.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. It runs in the browser on any computer, tablet or phone, and operators can install it on Android or iPhone. Entries made with no signal are kept on the phone and sent when the signal is back.

Can we bring our existing tool list?

Yes. Import tools and consumables from a spreadsheet, and add shop staff in bulk. We can help you with the first import.

Which ERP does it connect to?

Epicor, through its REST API. Each company connects its own Epicor, and the sign-in details are encrypted. Tell us which ERP you use if it is a different one.

Who sees what?

Admins, store room clerks, machine operators and calibration managers each see only the screens they need. Every change is recorded with who made it and when.

How do we get started?

Contact us. We will set up your company with you, bring in your tools and walk your team through it.

Know where every tool is.

Tell us about your shop, and we will show you WhataJig with your own tools.
